Do You Want to Be My Friend? by Eric Carle

My mother and I could not find the book of "Do you want to be my friend?" in public library. When we saw the author of book, we realized that it must be the same author of "The very hungry Caterpillar" and "Polar bear, Polar bear, what do you see?". I would like to recommend "The very hungry Caterpillar" by the same author to everyone. When I was in daycare, teacher read it to me. When I was in Junior Kindergarten, I read it by myself. Now I am in Grade 1, I read it to my little sister. Maybe that is why the author said "For my sister Christa" in the beginning of the book. Now I could almost remember all the words in the book and my little sister like to listen to my reading the book. "In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf..."
Both of my little sister and myself like it. Why?
First, it is an interesting story. The story is about a little egg changing to a little caterpillar and eating a lot of food and changing to a beautiful butterfly! Second, it has beautiful paintings. The pictures in the books are colourful and drew by paint (I think). Third, we could learn a lot of things from the story like the days of one week from Sunday to Saturday, fruits and colors and so on. It is real nature. Finally, it is simple. I could and would like to read it again and again.

  1. It is a wonderful book and my daughter loved it too. I am looking forward to the day that my older daughter (Sk) can read this story to her baby sitter.

And wonderful article wrote by your daughter. It is amazing to see how much Grade 1 kids can do nowadays.

Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to more articles from our young readers.

  3. Thanks for your comments. My daughter doesn't use the computer as well as big kids. The post has been post/changed by me. She only wrote the article on paper. The following is the original article her made and keyed.

I could not find "Do you want to be my friend" so I read the book "The very hungry caterpillar". I discovered it was the same author by Eric Carle. My mother got it from the library. I also saw that the book used paint. A caterpillar turning into a butterfly is real nature. When I was in day-care, my teacher read it to me. when I was in junior kinder-garten, I read it by myself. Now I am in grade one and I read it to my little sister. Why? because she likes butterflys. I like it too because I like painting. And I like the beautiful pictures and simple reading.
