The little red hen

The story that I read was called the little red hen.
It was about a chicken and a cat and a mouse and a dog lived in a warm house. The cat, the mouse, and the dog were lazy, so the hen had to do all the work. One day she found some wheat seeds then she asked, "Who will help me plant the seeds?" "Not I", said the mouse. "Not I", said the dog. "then I will", said the hen, and she did. Everyday she watered the seeds. And then one day she asked "Who will help me take this to the farmer and make this into flour?" "Not I", said the cat. "Not I", said the dog. "Not I", said the mouse. "then I will", said the hen, and she did. Then the little red hen mixed the flour and put it in the oven, and the animals smelled it and came to the kitchen. Then the hen asked, "Who will help me eat the cake?" "I will", said the cat, "I will", said the dog, "I will", said the mouse. "No, I planted the seeds, I watered them, I took it to the farmer, and I mixed the cake so I will eat it!"
I like this story because it told kids that if you want something you have to do something.

Report: So Far From The Bamboo Grove

For this report I am going to use letter format because I kind of dislike and disagree with the storyline in this story. The book is So Far From The Bamboo Grove, by Yoko Kawashima Watkins. By the way, I don't recommend this book to other people because there are inappropriate and violent scenes in this book.

Dear Yoko Kawashima Watkins,
Hi, my name is Alex. I'm in grade 5. I was reading a book that you wrote called So Far From The Bamboo Grove, and I didn't quiet like it. I didn't like it because in the storyline, it said that Japan defeated China in WWII, which was totally not true, and in some parts there were disturbing scenes, and I didn't like them. I have some questions for you:
-Why did you write this book?
-What was the meaning of this book?
-What was the moral of this book?
-Why did you describe those terrifying scenes?
-Did you think it was good?

Sincerely,
Alex

As I said before, I did not like this book, and do not recommend it to anyone, but if you want to read this book, you could. I will describe how I felt reading the book. I felt surprised, sad, mad, bad for some of the characters, and just plain bad. That is my report on this book.

The Magician’s Nephew

Recently I read a book called “The magician’s nephew. It is a great book for anyone who likes magic. It is a Chronicles of Narnia book and the first one in the series. It is also a major motion picture. It is written by C.S.Lewis.

This book was about two friends named Dingory and Polly who happen to find two magic rings made by Dingory’s uncle. The rings take them to other worlds. Dingory’s uncle temps Polly to touch a green ring. She touches it and vanishes. Dingory goes there by touching a green ring with 2 yellow rings to take them back. He goes there and finds Polly in the world of Narnia and pools leading to other worlds.

Polly and Dingory go in one pool which leads them to the world of Charn. Dingory rings a bell and find a statue turned into a Queen. The Queen who is actually a witch chases them into their world (earth) and tries to rule earth. Dingory zaps himself, Polly and the witch back to Narnia. He finds that he also zapped his uncle, a horse and the horse owner. Suddenly, a magic lion appears and scares away the witch. Dingory and Polly then get sent on a mission to get a special apple to protect Narnia from the witch. I’m going to stop the story here so you can read the rest to find out what happens next.

My favourite part of the book is when Polly and Dingory get sent to find the apple. I like this part because it was very exciting and was nervous about the dangers they would face. I would change the part in the story where Dingory’s uncle temps Polly to touch a ring because he does not want to go into so much danger. I thought Dingory’s uncle would be nice. I would make Polly and Dingory find the rings and touch them. This book reminds me of the book “The Giant Slayer” because both books were magical. This book is so exciting I was excited the whole time.

This was a great book. I give it an ages 8+ because is a pretty long book. I would give it 5 stars out of five. I really recommend it.

In My Garden by Ron Maris

After reading the book, I wrote my own book. Hope you like it.

French Activity Book

French Activity Book

Today, I will talk with you guys a very amazing book about your second langauge-FRENCH! French is very important for you because Canada is a country that has two official languages-English and French. This book is a terrific book for french beginners and starters from the age of 5. You could learn over 100 french words! They include the numbers from 1 to 20, the days of a week, simple phrases, family members, the colours, an answer key, and a study guide! And, much more! You would learn a-lot more than you thought you will learn. This will be a fantastic book for all of you.

Also I have another book to introduce, it is called the Missing Cat! I like this book because it has very simple french, but still if you sometimes get stuck on some words, sometimes for me it is translated to English from page to page! So that means that gives extra help and you could understand every sentence in French. These series also include A Visit to Grandma and The five crayons! Read all of these series to learn more and more French words!

Magic Treehouse - Dinosaurs before dark

Chapter one – Magic Treehouse
This book is called “Dinosaurs Before Dark”. The author is named Mary Popeosbome. I like this book because it’s really adventurous.
There is a sister named Annie and a brother named Jack. They found a tree house where there were a lot of books inside. When they make a wish on one of the book, it would come true. At the first time they tried to make a wish on a dinosaur book, then the land became to a dinosaur land. They were adventuring in the land of dinosaurs and found a dinosaur named Pteronodon. Jack wrote about it in their notebook. Annie tried to get on the dinosaur but she couldn’t because the dinosaur is too big to get on. Jack found a golden medallion and showed it to Annie. There was a dinosaur that eats meat so Annie had to pretend she was another dinosaur. On the hill Jack saw a T.rex and went behind the tree to hide. He was writing about the T.rex even while hiding. But the T.rex still saw him so the Pteronodon had to help him fly back to the tree house. Annie and Jack were both at the tree house. Then they both spin in the tree house and went home at the “Frog Creek Woods”. They went back home. JJHappy!

Report: The Tripod series- The White Mountains

I finished a book called "The White Mountains", it's in the Tripods series. This book's genre is science fiction.

This series is about a boy named William, and how he saves the world from these aliens called the Masters, and their robot transports, called Tripods. A Tripod is a vehicle for the Masters (not mentioned in the first book) and they have three big long legs, and have like a white UFO on the top of the legs, they also have three really, really long tentacles for grabbing up people and capping them.

A Tripod is a vehicle for the Masters (not mentioned in the first book) and they have three big long legs, and have like a white UFO on the top of the legs, they also have three really, really long tentacles for grabbing up people and capping them. This book first starts off where William is only thirteen, and his friend is about to get capped in a few months. Capping someone is when the Tripods put a mind-controlling metal helmet-like thing onto your head and it only happens when you are fourteen, when you are a teen. Most of the men and women in Will's village have caps on, getting controlled by the Tripods. One day, Will met a vagrant on the street (a vagrant is when a cap doesn't work on someone, and twists the person's brain, making the person dumb, paranoid, or even drive the person crazy) and later found out that he was an uncapped man, acting like a vagrant, so people won't suspect him, just stay away from him, Will quickly found out because he wasn't capped, yet. After he found out, the fake vagrant had given him a map to a place called The White mountains, where all the people there are uncapped, and rebel against the Tripods. The vagrant (fake) said he was part of this rebellion, and found Will, hoping he would join them to fight the Tripods. Later on that day, his friend was capped. After talking to his friend, Will felt that the cap had changed his friend into almost a lifless robot! Will was determined to fight against the Tripods because of they had done to his friend. After he had packed everything, he was on his way to The White Mountains. When he first went a few kilometres, his former archenemy cousin Henry, was running towards Will, also carrying a bag on his back. Henry said he wanted to come with Will on this journey to The White Mountains. After arguing for pretty long, will finally agreed, because he didn't want to waste time. Then Will finally felt like this was for real, he was leaving his home and family, to fight against the Tripods.

Will and Henry went to the boat dock and went aboard a ship that was stopping by an island that was about 150 miles away from the mountains. When they reached there, Will found a underground mine that looked like it hasn't been used in a long time. There were these egg-like objects they found that have ring on them, and when you pull it, the egg explodes (gernade)! After they got out, they found men with handguns, pointing them at Will and Henry! The men were sheriffs of this town, and thought Will and Henry were terrorists. The sherriffs pushed Henry and Will into a jailcell. After long hours that seemed like days, Will thought all hope was gone in going to The Mountains, but suddenly, a voice came in the darkness. It said if the person saves Will and Henry, they have to take him along with them on their journey. They made a deal. The mysterious person led them out of the prison and into his house. The person said his name was Beanpole and was waiting a long time to have a oppurtunity like this, to travel to another country, or even place. After they took back their stuff from jail, they set off into the night, another journey has started.

It was hard trying to survive through the winter when Will's, Henry's, and Beanpole's supplies were running out. All they had left were water, some food, the exploding eggs, and the things the vagrant had given to Will.
Later on that month, they saw a Tripod in the forest, stalking them. After a raging battle, Will, Beanpole, and Henry destroyed the Tripod, using the eggs. When they had finally arrived at The White Mountains, Will and his companions met many people like Fritz, Julius, and many more. Will thought that was finally the end of his jouney. Boy, was he wrong it was only the beginning.

I liked this book and recommend people to read this because this is a great and hard-to-put-down type of book, where action and suspension events chase each other, almost like heartbeats. This is a summary of this story. That is my report on this book.

Fancy Nancy - The Dazzling book report by Jan O’Connor

I like Fancy Nancy because she is fancy and the book is colourful. I like reading books just like Fancy Nancy. The story is about Fancy Nancy’s class goes to library and her teacher asks them to write and draw a book report. Fancy Nancy’s mother takes her to store to buy supplies for her book report. Fancy Nancy works too much on the report cover and don’t have time to write the report. When she hears other presentations, she feels nervous and she tells her teacher the reason. Her teacher understands and tells her just to tell the class about the book. She passes the report. Also I learned some Fancy words, PLUME – Feather, Dazzling – eye-popping and a knockout and Thrilling – even more exciting than exciting and so on.
I like Fancy Nancy because she is so fancy.

Report: When You Reach Me

I currently finished a book called when you reach me.
I think this book's genre is Mystery and Fiction. I recommend this book to kids ages 6+.

I'm first going to describe the plot and storyline:
This book is about a girl named Miranda, a mysterious person who keeps sending her notes, a homeless man that lives beside a mailbox, her mom winning a lottery, and events with her friends.

Miranda is  a girl who is in grade six. She lives in a little apartment with her mom. Her dad died when she was only a little girl, so most of their money went to her dad's funeral, so therefore, they are really poor. One day, one of her mom's friends went bankrupt, but Miranda's mom was kind enough to let him live in their apartment. On another random day, Miranda's mom was chosen to go to a game show called the $20,000 gold pyramid, and it is a show where you have to blurt out the answer as fast as you can, and you win money if you get it right, but lose money if you get it wrong. So her mom is trying to win the money, of course. After school started few months, just because of one afternoon, almost everything changed. Miranda was walking home with her friend Sal, as usual, she avoided the homeless man called "The Laughing Man", and tried to ignore the "Garage Kids" that are boys who hang out in a garage all day, but they seemed to be especially mad that day. When Miranda and Sid almost passed the Garage Kids, one of them named Marcus came out and punched Sid really hard, in the stomach. When she got home she found that the door was unlocked, and the key was gone.

Miranda and her mom was so worried, but then Miranda found a note in her closet about how she should send a note back she showed it to her mom. Now they were a little less worried because the person sent her a note. After a few days, another note came. It was about how Miranda has to write the mysterious person a note, because he/ she is saving Miranda's, his/her, and Sal's life. Lots of months passed slowly, and lots of things had so far happened in her life, like Sal ditching her, meeting Julia, Alex, and Anna, helping Jimmy the baker with his business, Sal getting sick, getting to know Marcus and the homless man, and her mom winning the $20,000 from the game show. Then the day came. When she was walking home one day, Miranda passed Marcus, and he glared at her, suddenly, the homless guy said: "BEWARE!" and Miranda saw Marcus running towards her, then the homlesss guy jumped onto the road and got ran over by a truck. After that fatal accident, she found out everything . Actually the notes were sent by The Laughing Man, and Marcus didn't mean to punch Sal, he wanted to punch the homless guy. After that, Miranda learn a lesson, don't believe what everything seems like, but believe the truth.

I like this book and recommend this book to everyone because first, it has great cover art, second, the author really knew how to forshadow and third, because this is a great mystery novel.

Three peaches come out! when princess Vera ate the peaches she jumped out of bed. The king said you may marry my daughter. Oh, yes Daddy. said Vera.

Book review:

I like the part when Vera wasn’t sick anymore because she looks bad when she is sick.

Sam and the Firefly

Summary of “Sam and the Firefly”

At night, a owl named Sam came out who wants to play. He asked, no one answered. All the animals on the barn was asleep. Suddenly, a light hit Sam’s head, my name is Gus, said a firefly. My name is Sam, said Sam. Then they made words. It was a good trick in the beginning. Then, Gus did some bad tricks. For example, at a movie theatre, Gus wrote come in free show. At last they come to a hot dog shop. Sam said Stop! but Gus did not. He said, just a one word thrice. Then he crossed off hot and spelled cold. We want our hot dogs, hot! said the men, not cold! They went away. Gus was caught by a hot dog man and drove off in a car! Just then, the car went bump! it was on a track! Just then a train came! Same had to do something! He got an idea. He lifted the Jar with Gus in it. Then he smashed the Jar. Gus was out! Then, he said to Gus: you know what to do! Gus wrote stop. Very big. lots of times, the train stopped. The driver and his assistant came out of the train hooray for the firefly! From that night and on Gus and Same played together.

Book review:

I like Gus because he has a light. I like Gus because he also stopped a train. I don’t like Gus when he did bad tricks. Then a hot dog man caught him. Gus learned a lesson. He did a good thing at the end. I learned from this story that if you don’t listen to people’s words, you may get in trouble. When Gus got in trouble, Sam helps Gus.

Predator Showdown

Today, I am going to write another PREDATOR face-off. The longest snake in the world vs. the largest venomous snake in the world. Reticulated Python vs. King Cobra! As you already known, I like predators. Especially face-offs. While the reticulated python has size at its side, the king cobra is called th " the snake eater".

The reticulated python can grow up to 6m. These constrictors have 100 teeth in there mouths! And they can swallow prey whole no matter what the size is. They kill prey by squeezing their body coils around them until the prey can no longer breathe or blood vessels can not travel around their bodies. Their attack and strength is better than the king cobra, but is less smarter. The king cobra has speed, defence on it's side and a venomous bite. A single bite can kill 20 people.King cobras prey on smaller animals, such as smaller snakes and lizards, while the python preys on wild boar and deer.

Reticulated pythons ambush and constrict their coils in order for attacking prey. They mostly live in southeast China and deferent places of Indonesia Islands. The king cobra can grow to 4m, using almost 1-third of it's body for striking and attacking. That 1-third of it's body is very quick for attacking, then delivers it's venomous bite. This predator lives in rain forests and plains of India, southern China. What happens if the silent constrictors meets the venomous eater?

The face-off

The python and cobra meet in southeast China. The cobra spots the moving python off guard with it's sharp eyesight. Still camouflaging, the cobra moves silently toward the slithery python. Just when the python noticed, it was too late. The cobra attacked, delivering a doom and venomous bite. Trying to return the favor, the python uses it's superior strength to wrap it's enormous body around the cobra. It's hard wrapping another snake, so the python only covers more than 1-half of the cobra's body. But, the venom from the cobra is almost covering it's body. Finally the python becomes weaker and loses strength. It unfolds the cobra. The cobra bites again and the python dies. The cobra wins the match.

Froggy Learns to Swim

I read the book "Froggy learns to swim".

One day foggy and his family went to swim. Froggy said he would go on the swing. But he was so high that he fell down the swing and landed on his mom. His mom made him fell in the pond and teach him how to swim. Froggy said he didn't want to learn swimming. His mom told him to say "Bubble toot toot, chicken, airplane, soldier. Then he learnt how to swim and he slept in the pond all night.

I like this book because the pictures are neat and the story make sense.

Ella Enchanted

First of all, let me say that this is one of my favourite books. I first read it when I was 9 years old and I still love it now. This book tells a tale of a girl who is headstrong and smart but is cursed by a spell. This book tells a tale of magic. This book tells a tale of never giving up even though you are on the edge of breaking down. This book is "Ella Enchanted".

"Ella Enchanted" is a Newbery Honor book, a ALA Notable Children's Book, a School Library Journal Best Book, and a Publishers Weekly Best Book, and has been made into a movie too. It is written by Gail Carson Levine, an amazing author that is known for writing fantasy books for children and young adults (check out her other books like Fairest, The Two Princesses of Bamarre and Dave at Night). This was Levine's first book that she wrote and also the most popular.

"Ella Enchanted" is a story based on the classic tale of Cinderella. Meet Ella, our stubborn, independent, and kind hero. Did I mention she had horrible luck? When she was just a baby, Ella was given a "gift" by fairy Lucinda to always be obedient and follow whatever someone orders her around. When she was 15, Ella's mother died leaving her with her greedy father. Then, in comes Prince Charming. Well, if you call Prince Charming a prince called Charmont who has curly hair and swarty skin, and has a nice and humorous personality, then yes, he is Prince Charming. And like the stories, Ella falls for the prince. But not yet!

First, she has to endure going to finishing school with her "ugly stepsisters" who aren't really that close with each other but just as ugly and cruel, Hattie and Olive. There, she meets Arieda, a fellow student, and becomes close companions with her but life isn't all happy and exciting. Ella has to go through days of balancing plates on her head, learning about what kind of jam the King likes, and Hattie bossing her around for she learned of the curse from Lucinda. Finally, Ella couldn't bear it any longer and runs away from finishing school to meet her father at a giants' wedding, but of course, before getting there, she just had to get captured by ogres. I told you, she has bad luck!

Then of course, Prince Charmont comes along, but wait! Ella doesn't need help. She proves that girls can be just as helpful as boys and manages to prefect the ogres' way of persuading people to do as they want, and escapes by herself. However, having a few knights with swords ready to be your bodyguards boosts your confidence by quite a lot. Ella finally got to the wedding and found Lucinda, but of course, her bad luck comes again. Shot down by a fairy with abnormally small feet when she asks for her curse to be removed. She travels back to her manor and meets Prince Char again. After having a slide down the grand staircase which by the way, has a nasty curve in it, they become friends, and write each other letters often.

Ella's father leaves to work and she is imprisoned by her step mom, Dame Olga. She is treated no better than a slave and has to wash dishes and clean the floor, but worst of all, she has to read stories to a confused Olive who has an unhealthy obsession with cake. And money. There is a bright side to her life though. Ella and Char fell in love over the letters exchanged by them. However, being the unselfish girl she is which is really unhelpful for herself sometimes, she thinks about all the aspects first. What kind of kingdom would their home be if the queen was forced to obey every order she was given? I'll give you a hint. Not a very happy one. After thinking everything through, Ella pretended that she was getting married and never got the letter from Char that confessed his love.

Ella and Char in the Movie

I'll leave it to your imagination to guess what happened after but remember the classic tale of Cinderella. The story was based on it after all. If you really wanted to know the ending, I suggest you buy the book or borrow it from the library. The ending is quite full of suspense and ties the entire book together.

Overall, I think this book is amazing. Sure, it's based on Cinderella, a movie that everyone knows, but in some ways, this book is even better. Instead of having the prince rescue the princess, Ella shows that princesses can be even more brave and determined to save their land. I recommend this to anyone who is sick of reading books where the boys do all of the saving and the girls just sit in the sidelines watching. All of the girls I know who read this book loved it and even some of the boys. I think people who are aged 8 and up are the most suitable age to read this, but I might be wrong. Remember, this is just my opinion.

"Ella Enchanted" proves that anything is possible, especially in a world as crazy as hers. Fantasy and humor, bold and daring, everything is possible in a land where Ella exists.

The Berenstain Bears' Class Trip by Jan and Mike Berenstain

I like The Berenstain bears class Trip because I like class trips. I like yellow school bus. I like riding yellow school bus. I like riding yellow school bus to the farm. I like riding yellow school bus to the farm with my class. I wish I could eat sweet and yellow honey at the farm just like the Berenstain bears.

Amelia Bedelia Bakes Off by Herman Parish

I like Amelia Bedelia because she is a hardworking person. She bakes a bed cake. I like the bed cake most of the time because there is no mistake. She is funny because she scratched cousin Acolu and that is not a part of baking a cake and Grace said start with scratch (meaning "nothing"). Emelia Bedelia loves cakes, from that we know she is a romance woman. She won a prize and she got one thousand dollars.

A Crazy Day With Cobras

The story “A Crazy Day With Cobras” was about Jack and Annie going to India because their friends Kathleen and Teddy made a mistake. Teddy accidentally cast a spell on Merlin’s penguin Penny, and Penny became a statue! They needed to find the four things to make Penny come alive again. The first thing they need to find was a rare and precious emerald which shaped like a rose. So Jack and Annie needed to travel in time so they went in to their magic tree house. The magic tree house is magic because it can travel in time and go to any places.

So they went in their magic tree house and disappeared in India. They were right beside where Great Mogul lives. Great Mogul ruled over India. He was rich and he always gave Jewels to other people, and Jack and Annie wanted the emerald rose. So they got in, they had a line up to get the Jewels. When it was their turn, they looked and looked and they found the emerald rose!

Next they wanted to find the second thing so they almost went out of Great Mogul’s palace, but the guard blocked their way and said they needed to go to the parade. While they were walking in the parade, Annie saw someone hurting an pregnant elephant so she said to stop, and a guard came up and said you had enough trouble so they got up that elephant and the elephant started to run, and dropped them. Annie asked Jack if the emerald rose was still there. Jack opened his backpack and the emerald rose was gone! They searched and searched and Annie found it!The dad cobra was camouflaged in the grass where the emerald rose was. They tried and did not get it and ran away, and then tried again this time when the mom cobra were sleeping. This time they got the emerald rose, and Jack put it in his bag and they never knew that the father cobra was right behind them! So they ran and ran and then the elephant got them and put them on his back. After the elephant let Jack and Annie see its baby. Jack and Annie returned to their magic tree house that brought them back home.

First I did not realize when the elephant drop them, it is for saving his own baby, and then the elephant came back and save Jack and Annie. The elephant is really nice.

Also, I really like this book because there are lots of adventures in it and how they escaped by the king cobras. If you like adventure stories, this book is the perfect fit for you.

Harriet the Spy

Dear Louis Fitzhugh,

My name is Esther and I am 10 years old. I just read your book “Harriet the Spy” and I really liked it.

It was very interesting how you made the problem that Harriet’s friends read her spy notebook with everything she saw in there because she was a spy. It not only hurt Harriet from lack of privacy, but also her friends because she wrote bad stuff in the diary about her friends. Therefore, her friends took revenge like stealing her lunch, etc. It was exciting to figure out how she regained her friendship. First I thought the story would be mystery but it was an exciting real life situation. I also liked this book because the problem in the story was big and the problem came when I least expected it. I like stories with those kinds of problems because it makes me anxious to find out how she solves it. I also liked how Pinky who is a classmate of Harriet was nice to Harriet in the end of the book. Even though she was mean to Pinky because it showed Pinky’s friendship.

Although I really liked the book there is one place I would like to change. I would change the fact that Janie, Harriet’s best friend, read the notebook to everyone. It should be Rachel or Marion because they were disliked by Harriet. If I were Janie, I would give back the notebook. I would not read it especially out loud to everyone else.

I would like to ask you a few questions about the story. What inspired you to write this story? How did you start writing? What was the hardest part to write in the book? What was your favorite part of the book? What’s the best thing about being an author?

This book taught me the importance of friendship and what would happen if I didn’t have any friends. Most of all, it taught me what to do to gain friends back if I lose them. This book inspired me to be a writer just like what Harriet wants to be.

Sincerely,
Esther

P.S. After I wrote this letter, I found out the author already passed away. I welcome anyone to give me suggestions or comments on how to improve writing this letter. Thanks.

Autumn Leaves by Gail Saunders-Smith

I like autumn leaves because it teachs us about leaves. And it shows us the picture of different kinds of leaves and the leaves are different colors and shapes. After reading the book, I wrote my own poem - Autumn Leaves.
Autumn Leaves
Leafs are dancing
Leafs are walking
Leafs are swimming
Leafs are skating
Leafs are running
Leafs are flying
Leafs are drawing
And some leafs are sleeping, sh, sh...

Oliver and the Oil Spill written and illustrated Runa Chandrasekhar

I like the part when Oliver’s mother licked Oliver because Oliver looked cute at that time. I think this is a good book, somebody should read it because Oliver is cute. I think the writer is a good artist because Oliver’s face was cute and the drawing looks real. Oil spill kills animals that live in deep water. To protect animals from oil spill we should make a stronger ship. So it doesn’t get damaged. And how to save animals, 1. put up a sign 2. give out home-made cards 3. put save animals newspaper in peoples’ mail boxes.

I have some questions for the readers who will read this story.

1. What happened to Oliver’s mother?

A. She died

B. She was being sent to a doctor

C. She is in a different lake

D. She swam away

2. How did Oliver feel when his mother was being taken out of the room?

A. excited

B. happy

C. surprised

D. sad

3. Was Oliver’s mom alive at the end?

A. Yes

B. No

4. What happened to the ship?

A. it smashed

B. somebody opened the oil tank

5. Did the ship break?

A. No

B. Yes.

Thanks for reading and answering the questions. You can send your answers to my email: girlduoduo@gmail.com

Story summary “Oliver and the Oil Spill” written by Claire C.

Oliver was a sea otter pup. He lived with his mother. He learned how to dive bits and bits into the deep water. “I don’t think I will ever reach the bottom”. He said. Oliver loved watching his mother crack shells. Oliver’s mother lay on her back. She put a rock on her chest and hit the shell against it. The shell split open and she gave the meat to Oliver. “Someday you will learn to crack shells yourself.” She said to Oliver. Oliver’s mother said to Oliver:” You must keep your fur clean. If you don’t, you will sink and never come back up. We need to breathe. If we don’t we will die.” Oliver’s mother said. One day something terrible happened. A ship crashed on a rock and a hole broke in it. An oil tank spilled in into the ocean. The next morning Oliver’s mother got a clam. She split it open and gave it to Oliver. Oliver took a bite. Then he stopped. “This clam doesen’t taste good.” He said. “I know.” Said his mother. “but if you don’t eat, you will be hungry and die.” She said. So Oliver ate it anyway. The next day a lot of sea otters sank to the bottom. Oliver knew they were dead. They didn’t come up for airs. But Oliver and his mother managed to stay afloat. Suddenly a motor boat came, a person put a net on Oliver and his mother. And they were being taken to the animal rescue center. Oliver didn’t like being stuck with a needle. When he woke up, he was happy because his fur was clean. He saw the people cleaning his mother. “They will clean you!” said Oliver. But his mother didn’t reply. She is not breathing! Said one of them. They put a oxygen over her face and pushed on her chest. But the people could not get her to breathe. Oliver’s eyes filled with ears because he could never see his mother again. When the people let Oliver out, he began to dive for food. It was dark at the bottom of the ocean. Finally he touched the sandy ocean floor. He touched and moved until he felt a shell. Air. He needed air! But he didn’t give up until he found a rock.! When he found one, he went up, up, up and up. Finally he got to the surface. He gasped for air. When he lay on his back, put the rock on his chest and began to hit the shell against the rock then he opened it and ate it, then happily dived for more.

Report: Bed Time For Frances

The book I read today is called Bed time for Frances.
The author is Russel Hoban.
The characters are Frances, Frances Mom, Frances Dad.
The setting of the story is their house.
The problem was Frances couldn't sleep because there were scary stuff in their house.
The problem was solved by her parents telling her that she shouldn't be scared.
The part I like the best in the book was when the moth bumped the window because the moth looked pretty; the part I didn't like was when Frances showed her scary claw, because it was very scary.

Report: Base Ball Ballerina

The title is Base Ball Ballerina.
The author is Kathryn Cristaldi.
The characters are I, Mary Anne, Madame, Team Shark.
The problem was a girl wanted to be the shortstop (in a base ball team Shark) and she didn't want to be a ballerina. The story happened in park, ballet class and dance stage.
The problem was solved: people (including base ball team members) cheered for her dance and she was happy for her part in the dance team.
The part I didn't like in the book is where the girl made an angry face; the part I liked in the book is when Mary Anne was spinning around.

My Dog

The story “My Dog” was about an owner who got a beautiful dog. The dog slept in a basket until he ate it. The dog likes chewing on his bone and baring it. The dog also likes making friends, and playing with his ball. That dog loves taking walks but he hates taking a bath after…

I would like to get a dog that’s really cute, like “My Dog”, but my parents got me a hamster as my pet instead.

My hamster’s name is Cookie. Cookie is very cute. He is brown, white and a little bit of black, which is the same color of the dog in “My Dog”. Cookie is very healthy because he runs on the exercise wheel for almost the whole night. He likes to have one table spoon of hamster food and a piece of carrot or apple every day.

When we first got him, we taught him not to bite or pee everywhere, and he learned it after 1 week. Also, we taught him to roll in his exercise ball, but one week later he forgot! I taught him how to play in his cage and in his playhouse, but unfortunately he forgets most of it except eating, drinking, not peeing everywhere.

I love my hamster, but I really like to have a dog as cute as the story “My Dog”.

The BFG

If you like humorous and creative stories, this book is perfect for you. In a land where giants who gobble up little boys and girls exist and when dreams can be caught in jars, this book is full of wit and laughs. The BFG is truly an amazing book that is for any person who has a sense of adventure and humor.

The BFG is by Roald Dahl, one of the most famous children authors of all time (other famous works of his are "The Witches", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "James and the Giant Peach", and "Matilda").

The BFG is about a little girl named Sophie whose whole life changes when she is snatched out of her bed by a giant. Then she is brought to the lair of the BFG, the Big Friendly Giant. This is not your average giant though. The Big Friendly Giant eats snozzcucumbers (a thing so repulsive that shouldn't be called food that is half as long again as a man and is covered with coarse knobbles), has the largest ears that anyone has ever seen and can hear anything with them, learned how to speak and write from one single book, and most amazing of all, can cause people to have dreams. How you ask? Well, there is a place where all dreams are found called Dream Country. There, dreams like the phizzwizard (the best dream of all) the trogglehumper (a nightmare), and much much more live as floating blob like objects that can be caught by the BFG into little jars. Then, the BFG uses a trumpet-like blowpipe to blow dreams into people's ears. Every dream is different, and the BFG writes down the description of what the dream would be like and keeps the jars in his huge room filled with thousands, even millions of dreams that are very much alive.

The BFG and Sophie

However, not all giants are like the Big Friendly Giant. In fact, there are the Manhugger, the Meatdripper, the Gizzardgulper, the Maidmasher, the Bloodbottler, and the most horrifying of all, the Fleshlumpeater, who are more bigger and stronger than the BFG and a lot more vicious. They, unlike the Big Friendly Giant, eat human beings, and are almost impossible to be defeated. Infact, human beings don't even know that they exist. Each one of them have a different style of catching humans to eat. Gizzardgulping Giant lies on building tops and at night, when he sees a human that looks awfully tasty, he grabs it. Meatdripper Giant pretends to be a tree in a park, and he waits until some happy families comes to have picnics but in the end, he is the one who has the picnic. Don't even get me started on what else they do to gobble up humans.

The Freshlumpeater

Left and right, people are disappearing, and if someone doesn't act fast, the world will be destroyed by giants. Sophie decides to take action, and with the BFG's help they plan to let the Queen of England help them stop this nonsense forever.

This book is one of my top favourite books to read. It was creative in every single way possible and had me laughing the entire time I was reading it. I rate this book 5 stars and recommend it to any person who enjoys a good book. After all, "The BFG" is a book that is unique in every way possible but you can't help but love reading it.
