The BFG

If you like humorous and creative stories, this book is perfect for you. In a land where giants who gobble up little boys and girls exist and when dreams can be caught in jars, this book is full of wit and laughs. The BFG is truly an amazing book that is for any person who has a sense of adventure and humor.

The BFG is by Roald Dahl, one of the most famous children authors of all time (other famous works of his are "The Witches", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "James and the Giant Peach", and "Matilda").

The BFG is about a little girl named Sophie whose whole life changes when she is snatched out of her bed by a giant. Then she is brought to the lair of the BFG, the Big Friendly Giant. This is not your average giant though. The Big Friendly Giant eats snozzcucumbers (a thing so repulsive that shouldn't be called food that is half as long again as a man and is covered with coarse knobbles), has the largest ears that anyone has ever seen and can hear anything with them, learned how to speak and write from one single book, and most amazing of all, can cause people to have dreams. How you ask? Well, there is a place where all dreams are found called Dream Country. There, dreams like the phizzwizard (the best dream of all) the trogglehumper (a nightmare), and much much more live as floating blob like objects that can be caught by the BFG into little jars. Then, the BFG uses a trumpet-like blowpipe to blow dreams into people's ears. Every dream is different, and the BFG writes down the description of what the dream would be like and keeps the jars in his huge room filled with thousands, even millions of dreams that are very much alive.

The BFG and Sophie

However, not all giants are like the Big Friendly Giant. In fact, there are the Manhugger, the Meatdripper, the Gizzardgulper, the Maidmasher, the Bloodbottler, and the most horrifying of all, the Fleshlumpeater, who are more bigger and stronger than the BFG and a lot more vicious. They, unlike the Big Friendly Giant, eat human beings, and are almost impossible to be defeated. Infact, human beings don't even know that they exist. Each one of them have a different style of catching humans to eat. Gizzardgulping Giant lies on building tops and at night, when he sees a human that looks awfully tasty, he grabs it. Meatdripper Giant pretends to be a tree in a park, and he waits until some happy families comes to have picnics but in the end, he is the one who has the picnic. Don't even get me started on what else they do to gobble up humans.

The Freshlumpeater

Left and right, people are disappearing, and if someone doesn't act fast, the world will be destroyed by giants. Sophie decides to take action, and with the BFG's help they plan to let the Queen of England help them stop this nonsense forever.

This book is one of my top favourite books to read. It was creative in every single way possible and had me laughing the entire time I was reading it. I rate this book 5 stars and recommend it to any person who enjoys a good book. After all, "The BFG" is a book that is unique in every way possible but you can't help but love reading it.

  2. Very well written! I liked your close attention to detail (especially the part when you described how the giant looked like). This was one of my favorite books as a child and I'm happy to see that Dahl's legacy continues to live on.
