Report: When You Reach Me

     I currently finished a book called when you reach me.
I think this book's genre is Mystery and Fiction. I recommend this book to kids ages 6+.

     I'm first going to describe the plot and storyline:
This book is about a girl named Miranda, a mysterious person who keeps sending her notes, a homeless man that lives beside a mailbox, her mom winning a lottery, and events with her friends.

     Miranda is  a girl who is in grade six. She lives in a little apartment with her mom. Her dad died when she was only a little girl, so most of their money went to her dad's funeral, so therefore, they are really poor. One day, one of her mom's friends went bankrupt, but Miranda's mom was kind enough to let him live in their apartment. On another random day, Miranda's mom was chosen to go to a game show called the $20,000 gold pyramid, and it is a show where you have to blurt out the answer as fast as you can, and you win money if you get it right, but lose money if you get it wrong. So her mom is trying to win the money, of course.After school started few months, just because of one afternoon, almost everything changed. Miranda was walking home with her friend Sal, as usual, she avoided the homeless man called "The Laughing Man", and tried to ignore the "Garage Kids" that are boys who hang out in a garage all day, but they seemed to be especially mad that day. When Miranda and Sid almost passed the Garage Kids, one of them named Marcus came out and punched Sid really hard, in the stomach. When she got home she found that the door was unlocked, and the key was gone.

     Miranda and her mom was so worried, but then Miranda found a note in her closet about how she should send a note back she showed it to her mom. Now they were a little less worried because the person sent her a note. After a few days, another note came. It was about how Miranda has to write the mysterious person a note, because he/ she is saving Miranda's, his/her, and Sal's life. Lots of months passed slowly, and lots of things had so far happened in her life, like Sal ditching her, meeting Julia, Alex, and Anna, helping Jimmy the baker with his business, Sal getting sick, getting to know Marcus and the homless man, and her mom winning the $20,000 from the game show. Then the day came. When she was walking home one day, Miranda passed Marcus, and he glared at her, suddenly, the homless guy said: "BEWARE!" and Miranda saw Marcus running towards her, then the homlesss guy jumped onto the road and got ran over by a truck. After that fatal accident, she found out everything . Actually the notes were sent by The Laughing Man, and Marcus didn't mean to punch Sal, he wanted to punch the homless guy. After that, Miranda learn a lesson, don't believe what everything seems like, but believe the truth.

     I like this book and recommend this book to everyone because first, it has great cover art, second, the author really knew how to forshadow and third, because this is a great mystery novel.
