The Hit-Away Kid
I just read a book called the Hit-Away Kid. It was a great book. It was written by Matt Christopher.
It was about a boy called Barry who always cheated in the baseball game and only the bully and the coach saw him and told him not to cheat. One day Berry’s sister Susan lost her glass dog. One bully that was in Barry’s baseball club stole the glass dog! Barry said I would stop cheating and you would give me the glass dog tomorrow and the bully agreed. When it was time for the baseball game, the pitcher threw the ball, and then Barry hit the ball. He dropped the bat and started running and missed the 2nd base and ran to the 3rd base and stopped. He told the coach that he accidently missed the 2nd base which he didn’t lie this time. At the end of the game, the bully gave him the glass dog.
My favourite part was when Barry noticed that cheating was really bad because he could get into really big trouble. And when the bully gave the glass dog back, he did not lie.
All kids and adults should be honest all time. I recommend this book for kids 6+.
